Your Help is Needed!
The Unity Shoppe is announcing a Capital Campaign to complete the relocation to Sola Street!
The Sola building will be the permanent home for all family services, long-term disaster relief, and job training, assuring vital services for generations to come, in a manner that reinforces the family unit while preventing welfare dependency. Once renovated, this 16,000 square foot facility will house all family services and volunteer activities. These include the grocery Food Court, Children's Clothing and School Supplies Stores, Holiday Toy Shoppe, Long Term Disaster Center, Volunteer Training Programs, Job Smart Services and the inventory/receiving (Warehouse) processing and barcoding departments.
Named for Annette and Harold Simmons who made the purchase a reality, the new Sola Street site includes the Loggins CommUnity Event Center as a tribute his Kenny’s long-term support of our work. This event center portion of the building provides a location adjacent to our family services that is versatile enough for fundraising, meetings, lectures, luncheons, promotional activities, educational training, and seminars.
The Sola building was opened in November 2013 with minor portions of the building yet to be remodeled. Projects to make the building fully usable total approximately $500,000. Retiring the mortgage and finishing the relocation will assure continued vital services for generations to come. “Naming Opportunities” abound for foundations, individuals, or to honor a beloved family member.
We look forward to showing you how we are transforming our new home to meet the ever-growing need for services for low-income working families right here in Santa Barbara County.
