Unity receives many requests to furnish baby supplies for low-income families, including car seats before a newborn can leave the hospital, start-out baby clothing, powder, baby oil, blankets and warm clothing.
Over 200 seniors work with Unity. We furnish material and yarn and they help make much needed baby items for new mothers and sweaters for children.
Low-income working mothers can shop for school supplies for their children so the kids are no identified in the classroom as poor. This prevents teasing and gives these children things they need without being embarassed in front of others.
School uniforms, underwear, socks, shoes, back-packs, pencils, calculators, paper, notebooks, glue, and rulers are available for low-income children.
Educational workbooks on math, spelling, and language skills, in English and Spanish are provided to help parents work with their children to improve their grades.
