Nearly 1800 youth donate community service hours annually, as they learn how to help their low-income neighbors and the community. They are taught how to operate the Grocery and Clothing Center, sorting merchandise, bar coding incoming inventory, working with customers and learning employment skills.
Volunteer youth are encouraged to respect the individual needs of Unity clients as they help low-income families, children and the elderly. A large percentage of students will not finish high school or go to college. These children are taught many valuable skills, which will help them enter the job market and become independent and successful. Children from around the world volunteer at Unity and learn how Unity programs help thousands of people throughout Santa Barbara County.
