Parents cannot work and children cannot learn if they do not have access to proper food supplies and a place to live. Prepackaged food bags were eliminated by Unity when their first grocery store opened in 1973. This allowed qualified people (referred by 300 schools, churches, hospitals, counseling and non-profit agencies) to shop for groceries to supplement their limited income. This allows mothers to remain in the workplace, while they provide food for their children. Unity helps low-income parents and seniors avoid welfare programs and homeless situations.
